Adopting a cat is a wonderful journey that deserves to be approached with care and reflection.
At Mondou, responsible adoption is at the heart of the approach.
That’s why five stores across Quebec offer an Adoption Zone, a dedicated space designed to encourage meaningful connections between cats waiting for a loving home and families ready to make a commitment.
Personalized support from the very first steps
The Mondou team supports every future adopter throughout the entire process.
Adoption Zone specialists take the time to understand your lifestyle, environment and needs in order to guide you toward the cat that truly suits you.
Whether you are looking for a calm, playful or more independent companion, the goal remains the same:
to ensure a responsible and lasting adoption, both for the animal and for its new family.
How the adoption process works
The process begins directly in store or by phone with the Adoption Zone team.
You will be invited to complete a questionnaire designed to better understand your profile and expectations.
When a cat that matches you and your family arrives in the Adoption Zone, a specialist will contact you and guide you through the next steps.
This is when you will be able to visit the Adoption Zone and meet the resident who could become your new companion.
Good to know: all cats available for adoption are 5 months of age and older.
A unique space designed for feline well being
While waiting for their new family, the cats live freely and peacefully together in a large condo specially arranged for their comfort.
These spaces promote well being and allow visitors to observe each cat’s personality in a calm and safe environment.
The cats are cared for by adoption specialists who have completed rigorous training and who are guided by passion and deep respect for animal well being.
Essential partnerships to maximize impact
Mondou has partnered with the SPA Mauricie, Proanima and several local shelters.
These organizations have the expertise, resources and commitment to support responsible adoption across Quebec.
Through these collaborations, Mondou helps reduce local feline overpopulation while increasing visibility for animals waiting for a loving home.

We asked Christine Dépatie, founder of Félin Complice, to share her five best tips for easing the arrival of a new cat at home.
Some cats adjust to their new environment within just a few hours, while others may need several days or even weeks.
Patience, combined with the tips below, will be your best allies during this transition period.
My personal golden rule: the less you rush your cat, the more trust they will build with you as your relationship develops.
Five tips to help your new cat settle in
1. Help them explore gradually
Your cat needs to explore at their own pace. Where your support becomes essential is in managing the space available to them.
The larger your home, for example multiple rooms or floors, the more effort your cat needs to feel comfortable.
If this applies to you, consider blocking access to areas your cat does not need right away.
This helps them focus on essential areas while adjusting.
2. Practice asking for consent
Consent is key, and it should apply to cats as well. By asking your cat for permission before petting them, you establish a healthy relationship from the very first weeks.
This teaches your cat that they are allowed to say no and that their decision will be respected.
This builds trust and allows you to enjoy cuddle time even more, knowing your cat truly wanted the interaction.
3. Establish a routine
A cat who can anticipate what is coming next in their day is a much more confident and relaxed cat.
From the first days, offer meals at set times and include enjoyable activities that happen each day at roughly the same time.
A predictable routine helps your cat adapt more easily to their new life with you.
4. Learn their preferences and habits
Once your cat starts to feel at home, take time to observe what they enjoy.
Every insight you gather helps you choose toys, brushes, scratching posts, litter boxes and activities that truly match their needs and preferences.
5. Ask for help sooner rather than later
It is never too early to ask for advice when questions or concerns arise.
Waiting for an issue to resolve on its own can lead to anxiety and frustration.
For greater peace of mind and reliable guidance during the first months together, do not hesitate to seek advice from in store specialists.
They can direct you to the appropriate resources if needed.
By respecting your cat’s pace and prioritizing patience, you lay the foundation for a lasting relationship built on trust.
Every cat is unique, and observing, listening and adapting to their needs is what makes cohabitation harmonious.
Surrounding yourself with the right resources is also a great way to care for your new companion from the very first days at home.
