Background

J.E. Mondou was founded in 1938 by its namesake, Joseph Émilien Mondou. The first Mondou store was, and still is, located on Jean-Talon Street at the gates of the historic farmer’s market that bears the same name. Ever since, the company has continued to grow.

In 1999, J.E. Mondou invested in a new 65,000 sq.ft. distribution centre, and in 2001, acquired one of its competitors. Today, the company boasts two distribution centres with a combined floor space of 150,000 sq.ft., 48 stores in the greater Montréal area, and four stores in the Québec City area.

Mondou is now recognized throughout Canada not only for its distinct logo, first introduced in 2004, but also for the company’s role as an uncontested leader in its field.
